NGC 5189, the Spiral Planetary: Repro

I held back quite a bit on the repro. Kept things simple. Better result IMO.

This was taken over 2 new moon periods (May and June 2015). I had about 8 hours data, but the seeing was a bit up and down so I tossed out an hour and a half or so.
It's a nice object, but very small--about twice the angular size of Jupiter.
Telescope: 12.5" Plane Wave CDK
Camera: FLI Proline 16803 (Real waste of real estate to get to this heavily cropped pic)
Mount AP900
Exposures: 10 x 10min each of L, R, G and B
FOV: 15' x 11'
Processing: PixInsight

A serious challenge in natural colour. The star field shows how sharp and tight the shot is. :thumbsup:

I suspect you need to re-visit this one on a night of better seeing.

That came out ok Geoff :thumbsup: there is some nice detail in 5189 itself and I like the colours. Am I right in thinking that the seeing may have bloated your stars a tad more than you would have liked and you have worked to reduce them, as they don't look like your normal stars.

A pleasing view none the less, nice work :thumbsup:

Going for the tough ones eh Geoff? The planetary looks good but the stars are a bit rough. Doing the stars again on a good night wouldn't take long.

I think we're forgetting that this is a very tight crop on a tiny object done without the benefit of narrowband filters. There aren't too many straight RGB versions of it out there.

Great job on the repro Geoff looks very nice, the colour is spot on I recon :thumbsup:...yes, excellent use of the 16803 chip real-estate :eyepop: ...just for a laugh, I'd love to see the full frame :) actually, I contemplated doing several objects like this when I had my 16803 on the AG12 but always balked, now that would have been completely ridiculous :question:

Brave to do an LRGB of this - I started one, but chickened out when I saw all the bright stars in that region - well done getting them under control.
