I get a lot of aircraft transiting my deep sky efforts.
Now it seems my daytime sessions are also being affected.

Hope you enjoy the link here (http://www.atscope.com.au/BRO/gallery361.html)

If you had actually tried to capture that, you'd never have been able to! And everyone was excited about the transit of Venus :P

Thanks, but it's amazing what you can capture with a little planning ;)
e.g. ISS/Jupiter (http://www.atscope.com.au/BRO/gallery25.html)

Wow Peter, that is unreal. I'm trying to convince my wife that the image is not a PS set-up:lol:

Indeed there are many photoshop fakes out there...but I'm happy to say this isn't one of them

Scroll down on the same page, there is a short 15 frame video from the original data files.

If you right click on the video you get various options, eg endless loop... the turbulence from the jet exhaust is pretty cool :)

Fantastic stroke of luck.

I had a similar one way back at the first Venus transit when I first started imaging:

A Jumbo flying from the west (an odd approach) during the transit flying through the sun for several shots. Complete with the distortion caused by the exhaust.

Greg.

Awesome, although pity it wasn't an A-380 :P

So did you see it flick past in realtime, or did your stacking software have a hissy fit?

Chris did quite well with his Moon shot a few years ago - did a few laps on the global media circus.

My wife asked if you just found MH-370? :P

What a great shot.

Great framing. What are the odds...

Thanks Marc... As it turned out I wasn't event going to bother doing an imaging run...then thought...what the heck

Ta :)

Looks like a 737-800 to me.
The A380 would not have fit in the solar disc so well ;)
I was watching the capture and actually saw the event real-time.
Frames 208 through 220 out of a 450 frame run caught the action :)

Indeed I've previously seen that transit image of yours Greg...nicely done.

Thanks for the input guys.

Same link (http://www.atscope.com.au/BRO/gallery361.html)...better processing and much more info

...the engine exhaust streams can be seen in this shot, and extend past the solar disc and distort and become red. Incredible coincidence....difficult to get this image even if you were actually looking for it.

SUN AIR :D

Thanks, but that's not what is going on in the image. The colours are not "real" as such and are simply mapped intensity functions.

The turbulence induced form the jet efflux is however very real.

Air is being strongly heated hence solar light is being refracted near the limb. This turbulence varies in intensity...which is shown in the image as various shades of red.

Awesome. Not much more I can say.

Only if it was a QF tail number....

Sure  ...Mike's been a bit slack :) and the current (very fine ) ITWO has been there...well..for too many weeks

Ta Col...but I can still see room for improvement even in this lifetime :)

Did I mention SIDs? :)

Thanks, glad you liked it
