I have just returned from an epic solo road trip down to Victoria. On the way back I decided to tick another item off my bucket list and have a Picnic at Hanging Rock.
It was a cold, drizzly day and the clouds were very low, sometimes engulfing the whole site. I almost decided not to make the climb. But I'd had great success imaging Yosemite NP in such weather so I thought I may as well give it a go seeing how I was there anyway. :)
The geology!! Oh my, it was amazing. All these granite pillars. It was a labyrinth up there. You can slip behind one column and it seemed as if one was in a sound proof room. Very very surreal it was.

Canon 550D, Samyang 8mm Fisheye lens, Tamron 18-200mm lens.

Some more piccies. :)
Not much of a picnic I know, just some dried mango, beef jerky and some nut clusters washed down with water. :)

Thanks for the photos Jeanette. :)

It sure is a marvellous place. I have some nice piccies somewhere from visits there. Children love it!

Queensland to/from Victoria - a great road trip - so many different and interesting route options. I used to do Melbourne - Bundaberg often when my parents were alive. If you draw a straight line, if pretty well falls on the Newell Hwy. I've gone all coastal, I've gone New England (with a detour over the Mount Lindsay Hwy - must be one of my favourite drives), and I've gone further inland coming down from Central Queensland - Bourke/Cobar/Griffith. I hope you had a great trip.

Hi,

It has enormous atmosphere there! If you've read the book or seen the movie it is so easy to be transported in time. Great photos.

Cheers
