Just wanted to quickly introduce myself.
I'm from Bacchus Marsh, VIC; I've long had an interest in astronomy and more recently in "ATMing".
I've just started my first project: 6" f8 Newt. Progressing slowly due to familial responsibilities but am thoroughly enjoying the process! Currently fine grinding.
Glad to be part of what looks like a great community!

Hi Jared, and :welcome: to IIS.
Noodles ? = Gorillaz ?
Plenty of us doing ATM on here. I don't grind mirrors but I've built 3 Newts, an tinshed Observatory and a lot of smaller projects so you're in good company. Any questions or queries there's whole bunch of people who will give you advice on just about anything.
Keep us all posted on progress in the ATM section as Matt says and enjoy the ride .

;)Hi Jared and welcome to IIS , I like Matt and Zero also love ATM'ing , I have built about 10 Newtonions from 4 inches to 10 inches and one 127mm f8 iStar lens sourced refractor over the years and totally enjoy it , the only part I have not made are the secondaries , they are cheap enough from Bintel to not worry with and the low profile helical focuser in my 10 inch f10 .
Here is a photo of 6 of my newt builds and the finished iStar , hope it helps , its a great hobby that is so rewarding .
Don't hesitate to ask any questions if you get stuck , anything goes mate .
edit , the purple one in the first photo is a 6inch f8 that performs very well .
Brian.

Hi Jared
Just noted you are in Bacchus Marsh. We have an Astronomy Camp coming up in November at Snake Valley not far from Ballarat. If you are interested just drop me a PM with your email address and I will add you to the email list for info. Great opportunity to meet fellow astronomers some of whom are into ATM stuff themselves!!
Cheers and welcome to IIS!!:welcome:
Malcolm
