Carina Nebula version 17

Been moving house, waiting 8 weeks for the camera to come back from the UK from repair and now the clouds have rolled in. Thought I would reprocess an old fave of mine, can't speak for everyone else though.

Ha = yellow
OIII = Red
SII = Blueish

Odd combination I know... :shrug:

I reckon that mapping SII to blue actually works. There are very interesting shell-like shock fronts between the main nebula and Gabriela Mistral which you show nicely to be strong in SII. Well done.

Scotty, Kudos to you, the colours are bold and striking in a unique and original take on colour.
Some of the bigger stars are blown out though, along with some of the brighter bits of the nebula.
Maybe a gentle hand on those would make make the image even better still :)

Andy, yeah, those stars... Really, I was just playing with the colours to see what else works other than RGB/Hubble. One day, when the clouds disappear, and I can see Carina again from my observatory (very limited sky coverage due to how it is setup at the moment) I am going to add more data and reprocess the whole thing from scratch. But, this is the 17th iteration of this, so I am really starting to get sick of the sight of it and just wanted to experiment with colours... One day :)

Mike (not the strong one!) that is one of my favourite areas of the entire nebula. Very keen to image that section through my 10" newt for some high level detail. Going to experiment more with the blue SII mapping.

Marc, really glad you like the palette. So do I and want to use this a bit more!

Gee I like that colour scheme. That's an impressive Eta with lots of detail and a great wide field. A winner. Might be a good one to get printed.

I was getting sick of a rather permanent cloud cover too, so I contacted the guys involved in atmospheric geoengineering and was promised clear skies towards the end of this week ;)

Thanks Slawomir. It might be interesting. Can your friends terraform us a whole planet, possibly something out of the star wars universe that has only 1 climate across the entire surface, cloud free and dark!
