Anyone else holding onto Astronomy gear that they have never used or haven't used in ages. I purchased an ST-8300M/FW-5....never used it. Purchased an FS-78....hardly used it. Takahashi Cassegrain focuser for my Mewlon 250S...scope long gone. Reducer for a Mewlon CRS...a scope I had hoped to own...and the list goes on.

Anyone else get past their hoarding?

Reformed hoarder here.

Now, about that ST-8300M/FW-5...drop me a line :)

Yup... Decided to sell all mine, you'll see some ads next week. 3 scopes, eyepieces and a few bits & pieces. Between the weather and a new baby it's going to be a long time before I can go stargazing again.

Easy to say sell...difficult to actually commit. Hence the problem :D

I actually bought a whole lot of equipment for the purpose of running star parties and scientific outreach. After doing things for a number of years I came to realise that I bought far more than I needed :)

No reforming here. You can never have too many telescopes! :P

I must be in early 'astrohoarding' status. But I keep building new scopes. And buying new stuff. :D
<mental note to self : must keep an eye on the ads over the next week or two > ;)

As there are no perfect "all puropse scopes", you need lots to fill the gaps. Lack of spare cash is my only limiting factor.

Hoarding is such an unpleasant word. It's "collecting". :P Not that I would collect anything else like torches, or cats.

Well, we've spent the weekend spring cleaning (a tad early) - some of the goodies are in the IIS classifieds. Even motivated the wife to clean out her stuff too. Even sold some items :)

I have a Celestron C8 (orange tube) and an ED-80 with a polaris mount. Neither has been used in at least 5 years.
I really should get rid of them...

PMX sitting here on a fat rob miller tripod, not doing a whole lot now that I've built an observatory. Performs perfectly, I only have it on the off chance I'll get back into a mobile setup...

Yep, I know the feeling, 3 or 4 items rarely used, a bit like collecting guitars, there's always room for one more.....:confuse3:

A big fire sale some months ago. Raised $20K=+ and now I still have enough gear to almost do it again but this stuff I use.
When you stop work it's time to consolidate. Income now = Nearly zero.

The first of my 'disposal sale' ads are now up. I will be getting the big dob photos ready soon - not a pleasant experience but I'm not using it now.

:eyepop:I can't decide what I'm genuinely hoarding or I'm might use again at a later date, should organize a meeting of the procrastinating society, as soon as I decide when, clear skies.

Because he's moved house, technically he calls it temporarily storing away, not hoarding.
