The sun rises due east tomorrow and sets due west for almost everywhere in the world.
The equinox is at 2:03 pm AEST on 23/9/06.

On the equinox day, the Sun rises in the morning, for every place on Earth (except at the poles), exactly in the east and sets exactly in the west in the evening. (At high latitudes this may be shifted due to atmospheric refraction.)

Below the sun rose almost due east here today.

I'm just waiting for it to clear the trees so I can take a gander at it with the
PST. Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if I can check the east-west aspect
in the polar alignment of my EQ mount, which these days sits permanently
in the yard.

Glen, do you have a link to the list of non messier objects which I think I
remember you said you posted on the internet somewhere. I would like to
pass it on to someone.

regards,CS sunny days

Great shot, Glen, and thanks for the info.

I might even go out to the beach to get a shot of it.
