While I'd like to get decidedly more SII and OIII for this very interesting patch of the sky...

This will have to do for now (http://www.atscope.com.au/BRO/gallery357.html)

Hope you enjoy the view.

Lovely start on the colour Peter. It's a bit muted/softer compared to your amazing earlier BW only version. When I did mine earlier I really noticed that more S2 data gave a healthy boost to the contrast and yellows. Are you thinking of keeping going on this one?

Thanks Andy...I got clouded out last night...but if the opportunity for some more SII comes up....you never know

As for the muted colour...not every nebula image has to look like a Las Vegas neon...though I know it seems fashionable at present....this is just my take on an 'oft imaged field :)

Excellent work, Peter. A beautiful rendition. I really like the colour scheme and careful contrast.

The OIII in the bipolar nebula outer shell is strong and convincing. I like the tug-of-war between the bipolar nebula and a balancing patch of H-alpha at the other extreme edge of the image.

It looks like you've chosen to zap the brighter stars to white, but left some of them magenta. I think that is an excellent solution.

Best,
Mike

Beautiful colors. Coming along really nicely.

Thanks for the feedback Marc.

High praise indeed :thanx:

The SII data in this region has me tossed...so little of it...yet I see versions out there that would indicate the stuff is abundance........ I seriously doubt another mega-session will do more other than reduce the SII noise, but I guess it's worth a shot. (Might turn the Honders to the inner portions )

That said...I am pretty pleased with the result as is, and once again thanks for the vote of confidence

Nice work, crisp and very-well-framed
Was there any reason why the S2 exposure was 6h and the other two 3h

Thanks. The SII data is very dim. I have also tackled this area with an AstroDon 3nm, but found little difference in the S/N. I found I was getting better results with the 7nm Baader and AO guiding (in this case just 2Hz)

12 hours should do it :)

Colours are a bit subtle for my taste, Peter :)

Cheers,
Rick.

That's OK Rick...it's probably a Pastel phase I'm going through....:)

That is beautiful Peter.
That would make a great A1 framed print in the right setting. Needs to be really large.

Looks good Peter. As you mention the S11 seems weak and the Honders would smash that out. I guess pushing 4 inches of aperture with a very narrow filter may well do that.

Great stars and details. So its got good bones there.

Greg.

Looks pretty good Peter. I think you did the best you could have with the available data. Certainly a big bunch of SII would have given you more of those nice reds and yellows that are missing in this image though.

Cheers

Steve

That looks to be a similar result I got recently of this area. I went slightly longer on the SII because of its dimness. While interesting to look at I found colour wise it was a lacklustre region compared to many others I have imaged of late.

All that said, I like this field if view and colouring. The smokey tones are quite nice too. Great detail.

Now one question; if you have Honders why are you using an FSQ to image? Am I missing some info?

Thanks Paul...The Honders is a delightful scope, but I was wanting to get a decidedly wider field to be able to include the bi-polar nebula and frame it in an eye-pleasing way....so decided to take the little Taka out of mothballs

That said..Raki's (just posted) absolute corker of an image with a narrower field has made me re-think that notion

This object really needs SII...which clearly needs aperture, ultra narrow filters, time...and patience...it's the latter I'm often short of :)

I found that even 6 hours meant the signal was quite thin with dark skies and long subs on SII.

Very nice Peter. I'd prefer slap in the face saturation but this is easy to digest.
