We missed Fraser Cains +Virtual Star Party on Google Hangouts so much that a bunch of us got together and rebooted it as "Global Star Party". We had our first broadcast last night for 1hr.

Looking for more astro-imagers to share live views from their telescopes over the hangouts. Contact me if you'd like to be a part of it.

Watch the 1 hour replay of the first session here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNduEA3KH3I

Includes discussion of solar, lunar, imaging Saturn, Hyperstar, live scope views from NZ and more.

I watched the first 10mins - looks interesting. I'll check out the rest later.

Well done Dylan

Thanks Kev! We didn't have much of a plan so I was happy the show worked out well, lots of live viewers and lots of great feedback this morning. It's nice to have a little "star party" from the comfort of our own homes, with our own equipment :)

We will have irregular schedules to chase moonless nights, Southern Hemisphere nights, USA, European times etc so astronomers everywhere will all get a chance to join the party.

Hi Dylan

Just watched the broadcast and thought it was great.
How do we know when you will be broadcasting live?

cheers

Thanks John!

The live broadcasts will be scheduled and posted in advance via the YouTube Account so you can subscribe there :

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtU_JCuERp91FhFH3cv1QLA

But I'd recommend the Google+ Page where events will be posted, so if you add that to a notification circle you'll get emails/popups for the event at least a few days before : https://plus.google.com/114386842264736511312/posts

Also if you'd like to try sharing a live feed from your imaging laptop let me know and I'll invite you to the private astronomer G+ community where we discuss schedules and such. No extra software required, just Google Chrome or other browser. We help with the commentary as well so the astronomers can focus on the imaging during the broadcast.

Pleasure was all mine! Paul was doing most of the heavy lifting this time as weather prevented me from sharing a live feed from my telescope. Hopefully the next time we do a southern timezone session :) Next one is going to be USA I think, and maybe some solar imaging from this side of the earth!
