This is panel 1 of a planned mosaic. So by itself its not that spectacular but it has a nice glob in it!

Some odd areas of brownish knots up top. I haven't seen them before. I wonder if its an artefact or real?

Have to say Greg, that looks very nice indeed, yeah somewhat plain looking field but nice and subtle and as you say, once mozaiced, should look amazing. Even at 1.6"/pix one of the advantages of a big wide field like this is that when displaying the full frame the perceived resolution increases and gives the image a very tight look...great stuff

Looking good, Greg! Can't wait to see the final mosaic.

I wonder if the blotches at the top of the image are caused be Antares, perhaps some strange refection? I had trouble with this area when shooting it with the hyperstar (F2). see here for IC4603 reflections (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment_browse.php?a=162243) I fixed the problem by cropping!

Hope you don't have any trouble with the additional panels. :)

Cheers

Thanks Mike.

I figured if its an artefact it'll get handled as you say in the overlaps of the panels.

Thanks Russ. I think it'll be worth it. Just need a stretch of clear skies.

Very nice Greg - it's a great field. I reckon those brown streaks must be the result of some funny reflection from Antares.

Thanks Steve. Yes I think its more likely a reflection. There was a reflection halo on the top left I had to process out.

Thanks Brad. Yes a large sized print would be great.

Thanks Leo. That's good to know.

Cheers Ross. The RHA is certainly sharp and picks up a lot of things so its new ground for me.

Thanks Marc.

Don't lose sight of the big picture Greg (literally). Mosaic work takes some dedication. Try to resist the temptation to move onto other targets as this will be a stunning result when complete. Keep it going.
