Getting all excited about imaging Saturn in the next few months, so I went back today and re-processed an avi (one of my best Saturns from the past apparition) from 22nd February 2006.

Here it is!

Can't wait to get my DMK on the ringed beauty this year!

I actually got an naked eyefull of Saturn this morning at about 10° above the horizon, above and left of the nice thin crescent moon. It's calling me... :P

Better iron your Saturn (satin for you spelling Nazis) sheets Mike, might make it easier to slip outo of bed in the wee small hours. :P

 Yeah .... I heard the same thing David...

and that it's not capable of capturing the Cassini Division even on nights of 8/10 or better seeing:shrug:

Hmmmm, I too have the same difficulty backing that claim up.

Don't you love the sky? Ever changing and always something new on the rise.

And i think all that looking up has drained the oxygenated blood from my brain:P

Good things come to those who wait.
What's needed is a new comet to chase down in the meantime.

After seeing it yesterday, I actually planned to try and capture it this morning. Had the scope out cooling all night and went out at 5am this morning..

Unfortunately i'm just too early.. I did find it, naked eye, when i was standing it was just above the roofline, in the treetops. It would've taken another 45 minutes to get into clear sky where I could see it with the scope, and by then the sun would've up as well.

So, no luck yet.. another few weeks before I'll be able to get an image.
