Late in the night I decided to do a nice easy object. Unfortunately, the seeing was not particularly cooperative--a bit over 3" FWHM, which I managed to get down to about 2.6" after deconvolution. Still, I'm quite happy with the overall effect.

Lovely colours Geoff (although I like to see just a bit of turquoise in the blue), a great quick and easy, fun at a star party, well done :thumbsup:. I had similar difficulties when I last imaged the Trifid too ie very poor seeing but also a 3/4 Moon :scared:

It's a bit soft compared to your usual, Geoff. Shame about the seeing. The colours are very nice, especially the golden stars.

Hi, Geoff,

As mentioned elsewhere, I really like the subtle detail in the reflection nebulosity, something that we narrowband addicts miss out on.

Toward 12 o'clock there's a small interesting dark nebula in the form of a water-diviner's stick, or upside down y, that I've not noticed before.

Good solid star colours too.

Overall a good image Geoff. The background yellow stars appear to have too much green in them so it seems to my eye there is a colour gradient running in the background. This could be throwing off the blues a tad (although I quite like them). The centre dust lane may come up with some selective sharpening. The stars in the blue neb have deconvolution rings around them so perhaps that could be avoided with a star mask when doing that step.

Deconvolution is not the greatest tool around. It helps at times but its a bit destructive as well.
