I'm a pretty patient, tolerant sort of guy... but sometimes things just get pushed to where enough is enough.

Back in March I ordered some T thread extension tubes from Anttlers Optics. I received the receipt for my order on March 17.

I get to April 20 and start to wonder where they are and how's it going... you know so I send an email off to Anttlers.

On April 22nd I get an email back saying:

<quote>
Dear Alan,
We are looking into this matter. We will get back with you ASAP. we are very sorry for the delay.

Sincerely,

Andrea

Fair enough. On the 23rd I receive:
<quote>
Dear Al,

I have been working on your order and we are having a difficult time with our supplier of this product, in fact we are having so many problems with them that we are discontinuing their products and taking them off our website. I am going to have to give you a refund. I am so sorry about this. Can you send us a receipt ID of your paypal payment and we can give you your refund today. Once again we are sorry.

Sincerely,

Andrea

It's all still OK at this point.... except that that's the last contact I've had from them, and still no refund or extension tubes!

I have sent emails to them on April 23, April 25, May 1, May 17 and again today (September 19).

The requested receipt ID was included in my original query on April 20, and it has been supplied again on April 25, May 1, May 17 and today.

$65.76 AUD is not a huge amount of money, but it's the principle of the thing...

I'm not impressed. I've kept my mouth shut long enough I think. If I don;t get a satisfactory response from my latest email, I feel I might just have to start doing what most disgruntled customers do - actively advise other potential customers against them. I'm not there yet, don't get me wrong. I'll happily post retraction if I get satisfaction either way, but leaving the facts to speak for themselves.

Al.

Never heard of Anttlers Optics, but I would not trust a dealer that cannot spell their own name. :P

Moreso than I'd be if I was in that situation.

Andrew Rubble and Dave Flintstone!;) Seriously this is far too long. I have been waiting for some threaded rings too from centre.net.au but they are not in stock yet. so I too have to wait but not as long as you. You should ask fora discount, or full refund or better still tell them that the international community will take notice once it has been spread on the net they cant deliver and are uncooperative!

Thanks for the report Al. I like to hear of bad and good experiences as a guide to where to buy from.

Antlers advertises on http://www.geckooptical.com/index.html for those that haven't heard of them.

Al, how the heck did you mange to be that paitent, i would have been sending emails every day at the least.

May be Michael from Geckooptical could help you out, he is a nice guy to deal with. And he has a long standing relationship with Antlers.

Thats a pity Al .. one thing about the net .. buisnesses that give bad or in your case no service can't squirm out of scrutiny by a lot of potential customers ..I'd right off the $60 and give them a call on the phone .. its not that expensive .

Around about now,
I'd be ready to bite someone on the leg,the whole 5'2" of me.

That's very bad customer relations,
I have heard of this crowd, but to be honest, nothing detrimental until now,
I do know Gecko Optical sell's on Ebay, and I think he is pretty much ok.

Just back from 2 and a half weeks holidays in Queensland (and no internet:doh: so I have 302 "new" messages on IIS to look at! )

I had a brief exchange of emails with Scott prior to leaving on hols. He checked my email address (checking it's legit I suppose), and seemed to be going through all the motions like he was going to refund my money but having said that it all seemed very slow and drawn-out.

Nothing has happened since I've been away, so I guess he's waiting to see just what I do to "take action". I'll send another email tonight, and maybe try ringing again. If I have no joy I guess I'll see what I can do through Visa and/or Paypal.

I honestly cannot believe this. Surely it's more trouble and worth more in man-hours for them to keep avoiding you and keep making excuses than to just paypal you the money and be done with it!

I'd be interested to see what people on the cloudynights or astromart forums thought of your experience with Anttlers. Anttlers might not even be aware of this forum or even care about this forum.

Al, Outrageous.

Edit: Cooler heads will prevail no doubt, I ask for Anttler's to respond to Al's issues and bring this to swift resolution.

I honestly mean no disrespect to Al or anyone here, but I don't think Mike would appreciate the use of the forums to launch a coordinated campaign/boycott against any dealers. There is nothing wrong with sharing your experiences good or bad, but it should probably end there.

Al's experience sure sounds extraordinary and I would be outraged if I'd been treated that way by a dealer. IME there are always (at least) two sides to every story, and without knowing all the details and having thoroughly investigated all sides, it would inappropriate to pass judgement.

I know there is no justice like angry mob justice  but I think it's best if everyone makes up their own minds. I would certainly be very wary of the dealer concerned in future.

btw, CN is very strict when it comes to posting about customer-dealer disputes, and a thread like this would almost certainly be deleted.

Steve, your point is noted but a community is for naught if we do not support each other in times of need. I hope Anttlers will do the needfull and come through for Al and you are correct we do not know there side of the story in this. In the time i have been on these forums one thing that I noticed that people genuenly commit to help each other out, and that is the spirit in which i made my comments.

I don’t what you guys feel, but I feel a bit uneasy about identifying a new member, such as Anttler. Even as done so quite innocently and with the best intentions, I would feel concerned if it were me.

If I had just joined the forum and I saw a post broadcasting that I had just joined, I would feel slightly uncomfortable? Even disregarding the fact that I am an ordinary forum member rather than someone associated with a business.

Just another perspective, in a difficult area, with many shades of grey.

Cheers

Dennis

Hmmmmmmmmmm.

A tricky one.

I also am torn over this one and agree we need to hear both sides of the story, but the treatment does appear to be fairly shabby:shrug:

A portion of the problem appears to be the lack of action/comment from the business end of the equation. Anttler is kind of making a rod for his own back.

But I do feel the point needed to be made by Al, and that has now been achieved.

That does not preclude the need for follow-up info and updates on how this is all panning out. It's useful for all of us as members to read of others unfortunate/difficult experiences.

It's how we learn what to be wary of and how to deal/respond to tricky situations.

We do, however, need to keep some sense of balance in our reporting wherever possible and not just indugle in outright bagging IMO:)

(Not that I'm saying an "outright bagging" has occurred in this instance)

I think the point has been made, we've only heard 1 side of the story and I think this thread has reached it's used by date.

Hopefully Al will have some positive news to report in the near future.
