As every man and his dog seems to have an AP Honders these days....
thought I'd throw my take into the aether :)

More of a re-pro than new data....I think I'm slowly getting used to using Pix insight's splendid gradient removal tools... as this crash test dummy seemed to brush up OK

Very cool Peter. Me thinks you need to get your rig to darker skies. Gradient removal can only do so much. Fantastic detail across the bar. Perhaps the colours could be pushed a little more. Still a pleasing rendition of a mainstream target. :thumbsup:

Thanks for the feedback Jase. This was hardly a mega-data effort, but I found it pleasing enough.

I've been looking at remote/dark sky options of late....but must admit I'm distracted and champing-at-the-bit waiting for the Big Alluna to arrive (rhymes with Kahuna :) ) before I make any concrete decision there.

Ta Geoff...re: PixInsight...yes, it's really impressive...but it's the bamboo under the fingernails interface I'm still trying to warm to :)


Thanks Greg...the 8300 isn't much of a test for orthogonality, but, yes, it now also works well with my 16803...albeit after much trial and error!

Hi Peter

That's a very good highly detailed Centaurus A but I think you could boost the colour a bit though. Agree with your comments about the Pixinsight interface.

Thanks Steve for the constructive feedback. I've now tweaked it up (just for you :) ) at the same URL.... and I can see the gradients again...:doh:

Might have to do a proper mega-data effort if this weather holds :prey:

The sentiment is appreciated, but I think about a 3000mm focal length is needed for most galaxies to really show serious details :thumbsup:



Ta Paul. I must admit...I'm struggling with the colour on this one..what looks good on my PS6 calibrated monitor, then looks pretty drab on a web screen..plus, subtle gradients are still there.

Don't think I'm going to spend any more time on it at this focal length.......

I don't think I've ever seen such fine dust band detail. Super optics and super seeing.

Agree on some other comments Peter, detail is very good, I would dare much more on color saturation (and perhaps correct a bit the balance, there is some magenta in the core that is not suppose to be there, IMHO)..
