I've wanted a telrad for ages but kept putting it off. As much as I'd still like one, it's not at the top of my list anymore. My finder works fine and DSC's help in other ways.

Enjoy what I agree is a handy (not necessary) accessory!

A lot of those living in dark skies will use a telrad and dump the magnified finder.

Not me though, never felt the need for one.
I too like the SC's instead, as well as a real finder.

Going to be a little delay with the new arrival. Thanks to the couriers for that.

:D I am sure you will like it, once you get it. Damned carriers, they sure slow down the pocess sometimes.

Just got word from the bush telegraph that the couriers never picked up the Telrad, so it is being personally delivered by Mattew Lovell.

Now thats service.

Well the telrad was delivered, I also bit the bullet and bought the dew shield aswell. Matthew also showed me a crayford focuser aswell as a rack and pinion, both 2"/1.25". The R&P focuser was basically crap, very light, and felt cheap (was only $60) The crayford style focuser was much better, felt very smooth and reasonably light aswell. I may have to save a little more now, this is the next planned upgrade.

Anyway first impressions on the Telrad was "BIG" A little bigger than I though actually. Never the less it seemed to do okay, it's a shame about the plastic body though, sort of makes it look like an expensive cheap toy. But it still does the job it was designed to do. I noticed straight away the little sign on top of it saying dont point the reticle to the sun. I am guessing a few people have done this in the past. It went on the scope really easy. Did I mention it looked big. Below are some images of it on my scope. Taken from inside my observatory.
