Chook’s Beak – IC2872
This is 3h (12x900s) of Ha of the IC2872 taken with my usual optical train: FLT132+STT-3800m. Not quite happy with the focus this time … :screwy:

That's actually pretty cluckin good Ian, some nice contrast/details despite your feeling that it isn't quite in focus :)

Hi, Ian,

I like what you've done. I can see the beak clearly!

I don't have the entire index catalogue. Can you give RA/Dec for this one?

Best,
Mike

Incidentally, the beak is the small point protrusion on the left, the larger horizontal V shaped nebulosity on the right is the comb on her head :)

No lie, honest...t'was named from even wider field Schmidt plates

Anyway...at least our advanced drawing skills are quite similar :D

I'm new at this astronomy caper and I gotta say... I think they are stretching with the name of this one :) It's also the least majestic name there is! With even the vague form of a chicken they could have easily called it the Sleeping Dragon Nebula or something bad ass.

Running Chicken indeed.
