Hi,

I have a problem with the dec slow motion adjuster on my Celestron Astromaster 130EQMD. I assumed it was like the ra and could go around a full circle and wound it till it jammed. I managed to get the slow motion cable loosened by unscrewing the bolt with the spring and plunger (on the right of the pic) but now it will not go in any further. I don't want to force it for fear of stripping threads.

The result is that I can now only adjust the dec in either direction by tightening or loosening said bolt while turning the slow motion cable.

Any ideas what I have done to it and please tell me how to fix it,
Chris

This Declination arrangement is like a tangent arm. Meaning it only has a small range of rotation in declination and reaches it's mechanical "stop".

You have to wind it backwards and push the mount in declination to the object/target then you can use the declination micro adjuster again...although only for a small range.

 Brendon is right , you have to wind the thread back out , left side of the photo , and that will release the pressure in the spring , right side .
Be sure all the parts line up properly before you wind the thread ( left side ) right up tight again , you have to re\wind the thread back out again , reset the DEC and you will have the movement again , about 15 degrees at a setting , plenty for visual work if even roughly polar aligned .

You will be ok once you suss out how it works .

Brian.
