Thoughts on EQ6 basic

Hi,

I've come across a basic EQ6 (black) that I find really interesting and Im inches away from getting it but before Id like to ask some points from you guys about it.
I'd reckon its not goto but can it be guided same way as neq6 or heq5?
O would like to try as well eqmod so would it be a fuss to do all upgrade with it or just get the goto models straight away?

You should be able to get a kit to upgrade it to the Pro, so you could try that option too.
Mine was upgraded for me by the store I bought it from.

The update to goto is quite easy with the upgrade kit.

The ease of upgrading is not the real issue here. From memory the upgrade kit is expensive, so unless you are getting the NEQ6 for a song,
it might make more sense financially to get the Pro Go To in the first place, either new or used.

Im not actually after the goto, but i do not know if a basic can be guided or be controlled via laptop without upgrading.

The basic non-goto EQ6 can be modified to allow a form of guiding however it is not as flexible as the goto model because you don't have the same degree of control over the guide rate:

Shoestring also sells the bits however this is just a short length of 6 wire phone cable with an RJ12 plug on the end and an RJ12-RJ12 female coupling.
