Hi all. I recently bought a Skywatcher SW102/500mm achromatic refractor telescope that I was going to use as a spotting scope for my Celestron 8 SCT. I'm pretty impressed with the build quality and it's the first decent refractor I've owned. Visually it seems good but it's much heavier than I expected.
Tube weight, mounting rings and the mount, red dot finder would be about 3kg. Not sure about what type of mount yet. Has the original mount.
Would this scope be too heavy for my C8 on a wedgepod mount with standard clock drive (no dec motor)? Has anyone mounted a similar short tube refractor on an 8" SCT? Cheers.
