Hi All'
My 1st serious attempt at anything.
10x5min subs, 10x5min darks.
Saxon 120ed,(my wife likes spikes so i made crosshairs to fit ) atik 383 osc, cooled -5c
Phd,SGP, Nebulosity Ps cs6

Taken in Darwin, no filters, I will be getting more data, i.e. cls, ( will an o3 filter also help? )
I did some processing just to see what i got, but here i am stuck. Most images i see of eta have a bit more colour.
Could anybody give me some suggestions on how to improve this image.
Cheers
George

Hi George,

I think that is a massive improvement on your last effort  well done, better star shape and framing - you have also teased out more of the nebula.

I can't pinpoint your colour issue, there must be something going wrong with programs you use / your work flow - that is all i can suggest.

a give away is the star colours there isn't anything there, carina is rich with red and blue stars see https://www.flickr.com/photos/80336656@N07/15982308693/in/photostream/lightbox/

have you got a single sub you can post that has come straight off the camera? is there colour there?

Hi Russ,
I use Nebulosity for processing, after subtracting darks, i normalise intensities of the subs, then debayer, align and combine.
Just doing another sequence with a cls filter, will post soon.
BTW just looked at your flickr site.... Awesome images.

ok, added single sub... looks like still no star colour

There's colour in the single sub - green. You may have to adjust your camera settings to get a better tone.

Check the white balance on your camera. I set mine to daylight, not sure if that is the best setting, but if I leave it on auto the pics taken facing the tungsten streetlight out front are blue, towards the orange skyglow of town turn out brown and in the dark sky parts look good.

The camera is an Atik 383+ l osc, so white balance should not be an issue, i think the problem may be in Nebulosity. Under preferences, there seems to be many options for debayer settings which I don't understand.
Does anyone use Nebulosity who can help ?

Played around with the Bayer offsets in Neb, seemed to get more accurate colours. Skyglow may be a problem.
Too much.....????

Had a Eureka moment :) When debayering in Nebulosity i was not adjusting pixel size correctly.

20 5min subs, no darks ,flats or bias, will do later.
WO FLT110 + TMB flattener, Nebulosity , PS CS6
Could somebody please explain why i am still getting egg shaped stars on the edges when using the flattener, i thought it would be corrected.
I am extremely pleased with the result so far. :D

Any critique would be welcome.
Cheers

Maybe the camera / flattener spacing needs adjusting?

How do I find the correct spacing?
I am using a Wo flt 110 with a tmb flattener and an atik 383l+ osc.
