Can I blame you for bringing in the clouds to south Sydney? :( I was going to blame the cloud-attracting motors on my mount, which I got out and aligned in early evening for the first time in months... but you're a good scapegoat :P

I will believe it when I can start my camera. I was suckered in to thinking last night was going to be good and was all ready for moon set to start my run after mid-night. Right on cue the clouds rolled back just as the moon set, Arg! Ever the hopeful fool, I got up at 2am to try again - total cloud cover; then when I got up at 6am the sky was perfectly clear again. I am ready to try again tonight (moon set around 1am) but I won't believe it until I see it.

You guys should all be clear by now, all your leftovers have been blasting around on this side of the Tasman. Only some serious rain with some flooding and some strong to gale force winds and a few boats broken loose and on the rocks.

Thanks for the heads-up Wavy, I'd taken a power nap. Now I've gone back out the seeing is pretty decent, Saturn popping nicely in the C8 :thumbsup:

Maybe it worked for you guys down there but last night played out exactly as the night before for me. Clear until about 11pm then the cloud came back and by moonset not enough clear sky to justify rolling the roof off. Got up at 2 am to check again to find total cloud cover - then this morning its clear again. I hope the guys who went to Bretti had better luck.

These clouds have been right teasers the last two nights. Good early evening skies, then just when all the gear is set up, in come the clouds! When you think about putting the gear away, the clouds break again. Effing tricky stratocumulus, big rafts, holes, builds back over you, then disappears when least expected. But pretty with the moon shining through!

Managed (eventually) some M83 exposures, a snapshot of SN2015F and one spectrum (because I'd given up on having enough clear sky for anything else), will call it a win for the first time under the stars in months...

For the masochists, more of the same tonight?

I'd just got my mount drift aligned when the clouds rolled in last night. Then I came inside for dinner thinking they could roll away just as easily. They didn't in a hurry, but after seeing Wavytone's post above I went out and it was clear as. Seeing was much improved for bonus points too :D

There were a couple of light fluffies threatening my experiments around 3am but it was still clear when I went to bed at 4 :screwy:

Tonight, pre-midnight, is showing promise too, depending on the definition of "coastal fringes" :shrug:
