What is your favourite hubble image and why
Arrrrhhh it's way too hard to choose I have so many favourites but there is three stand outs in my head right now is a toss up between the horse head image, the pillars of creation and V838 Monocerotis and and and ....... Oh this is like asking which one of your kids do u love the most :/ lol
In before the stream of "Deep Field" nominations. :D
It still blows my mind.
Oh hell yeah I forgot about that one :)

The galaxy images for me. Such incredible detail/resolution on many of them - like looking at the Milky Way from above.

The Homunculus Nebula.

The detail in that picture is just amazing. This is such a brilliant example of the power of nature and physics in action!
Then when I saw it with my own eyes in the Evans 30 inch at Linden, I could compare it literally to the Hubble image.

Couldn't pick one even if I tried, the legacy that Hubble has left from the last 25 years is just astounding.
I reckon they will be still analysing the catalogue of images for another 25 years to come.
Ohhh there is some interesting favs here thanks guys :)
C'mon Ric you gotta pick one hehe ;)
Hi Jen
Probably would have to go for those deep field images then.
It's mind boggling what is out there, even in a few pixels.
:D:D:D yep it blows me away every time I look at that pic :)

I love the Helix nebula1 Great colours and close-ups of the cometary knots.
I have a book which gives an understanding of how the cometary knots formed, very fascinating.

There are so many that are outstanding.
The deep fields are excellent - I also like the Horsehead, Pillars in M16, the Jupiter impacts....Sombrero, Eta, Cat's Eye, even Mars!!!!!!

Probably V838 Mon (around 2004 vintage):

But I have to admit, the Carina Nebula giving us "the finger" in the left of this image makes me smile:
