The latest image from Clayton Bay observatories. Only 8 hours of data but I found it was pretty clean.
This is a better rendition that my previous effort of about 5 years ago with the 8" RC.
This galaxy is a very intriguing looking one. The dust lanes, not only across the central plain but the thinner vertical traces are quite interesting to view. Around the central area it looks like those dust lanes are pointing up and away. As though they are being drawn into the central black hole or blown out and away. The star forming regions can be seen too.

G'day, Paul,
Magnificent and extraordinary. I see what you mean about the very conspicuous thin dust lanes on the "underside" of the galaxy, some of which are like spokes poking out, and some look like looping arcs.
I wonder if they're caused by the same mechanism as the ones in NGC 253, each of which is thought to be due to multiple supernovas causing a "galactic fountain" of material being ejected out of the galaxy.
The bright blue star top right helps make for a beautiful image.
Best,
Mike

Nice one Paul, is that a satellite galaxy straight above NGC4945?

Hi Paul,
that's one of the best I've seen of this galaxy posted on Ice in Space.

This has to be one of the best images of 4945 I have seen. I don't remember seeing such fantastic detail of the dust clouds rising before.
Brilliant work Paul!!

Gorgeous Paul, the colours are so deep and mysterious
Must admit this really appeals Paul. It doesn't smack you in the face with lots of overdone makeup, but the more you look at it, makes you realise you're seeing new territory not usually seen.
Kudos and congrats for getting your new rig working so well - definitely making an impression on the astro-community and lifting the bar higher.

Thanks Kevin, Rick, Russell, Graham, Brett, Eden, Doug, Jo, Rod, Tony, Allan, Simon, Dave and Graeme for all your comments. Lots of high praise, but there is more to be done yet. Just enjoying using a system that works finally.
You could be onto something there Mike. I had not thought it looked like NGC253 but it could well be a similar mechanism. Robert might have an answer for us here.
I don't know the answer to that. I doubt it though. It looks to be a distant galaxy to me. There is a bright core there which might suggest this.
I have another data set just waiting to be processed. With another data set being collected. Cloud and rain has intervened this lunar cycle now though. Nice to have a glut of data though, makes for a novel change. The next data set being collected with take quite a long time yet to collect. So it will come in ebbs and flows.
Thanks Justin. Its a great image to take a look around but I would much prefer a longer focal length to give better resolution.
Thanks Fred, I appreciate your compliment. It's nearly there with the stability. Some final little tweaks, but its getting very close. All the BS of the last year or so was worth it just to be getting these results. Very enjoyable.
Thanks Barb much appreciated, I had a look around myself and I think it rates pretty highly myself. Maybe some tweaks to the image would enhance it.
Thanks Rob, I am with you, I am looking to produce images with subtle smooth processing, rather than the over done makeup. Nothing wrong with the bar going higher. The higher we go the better we all get. Everyone wins I reckon. :)

That is one amazing photo Paul!
The detail in the galaxy blows me away...so delicate and so deep.
Great colours and so sharp.
Technical quality aside. The beautiful composition with the two stars to the right make this photo outstanding.
Definitely the best photo I have seen from you and one the best astrophotos I have ever seen.
I love it!
Print it and hang it up.
Ross.

Wow, do you think so Ross? I guess I have my personal favourites of the best image I have ever done and I do rather like this, but had not considered it to be the best image I have done. It had just not occurred to me. Still; I am flattered that you think so. It will be printed at some point I am sure of that. :) Thanks for your comments.
