Hi,

This was imaged the same night as my recent Abell 33 image, 36 is a much tougher DSO to process.
Digging it out of the background took 5 attempts.

Abell 36 is Magnitude 13.0 and a angular diameter of 293 arc seconds. It's not as spectacular as 33.

Here's some more info.

8” F/4 astrograph , baader type 3 coma corrector,. HEQ Pro 5 mount, orion mini guider.
Camera.
Unmodded Cannon 1100D plus cooler box. 56 subs x 2 minutes at ISO 6400. Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker .Processed in Photoshop Cs2..

Cheers,

Justin.

Great shot Justin! I've got a feeling how tough this one must be. I want it! :D Are you going through the Abell list?

Thanks Kevin!

Yes hope to do most of the larger Abell planetary nebulae.
Don't believe it's been done with a DSLR before.

Justin.

Nice to have a list of challenging DSO's.
Always great anticipation when the first sub comes up.:)

Another nice PN Justin!
I like PNs because they often have good surface brightness - except most of these Abell PNs.
It's a pity some of the more interesting ones are so small.

Thanks Fred!:)

Thanks Mike!:)

I'm constantly surprised what there is to image and what can be imaged with dark skies.

Thanks Tony!

Your right about he small ones being the most interesting.

Cheers,

Justin.

Another beautiful and rarely imaged planetary in your hunter's bag, Justin. You're excelling at the stretch goals.

I read on APOD that the central star is not yet a white dwarf. Perhaps that means that this nebula is not quite fully ripe yet.

Best,
Mike

Thanks Mike!:)

Interesting to think about how the nebula will develop.

I reckon your dam right Justin, having had an Obs 250ks away, just doesnt quite cut the mustard, well, in my situation, I think theres enough targets from the burbs to keep this duck busy from time to time :P ;)
Looking forward to your next installments, tho im not here often these days ...
