View Full Version here: : Replacement finder scope alignment screws
Hi All,
On my first attempt at using my new eq mount I managed to break one of those little plastic screws that came with my 200mm f4 newt finder scope can anyone tell me if I can buy replacements?
Is it ok to use metal screws? I would have thought they would cause damage...
thanks

Hi Joe give Bintel a call
all the best Michael.
Spoke to Bintel will give me replacements for free, but they wont have stock for a week or two.
I was thinking if I can source them somewhere else I'll just buy a dozen just in case I need them in the future.

I wrap the finder with 2 layers of electrical insulation tape where the screws contact and then use metal screws on all my finders. Prevents damage from the screws.
I was thinking of doing the same thing, I'll just file off the tips of the screws...
Do you know what type of screws were needed? I am guessing they would be metric??

Do you have a local Jaycar/Electronics type store?
They usually have a good selection of metric polycarbonate screws available.
Take the original with you?
