I have now uploaded pictures and text to my web site from the eclipse trip to Svalbard and aurora trip to Tromsø.

I have reworked the solar eclipse composite of the corona using a Larsen-Sekanina filter using Photoshop and compositing many extra images. I have now eliminated those voids in the previously posted image that were composite artifacts.

There are 5 slide shows,


Two extended time lapse sequences of spectacular aurora events.
wide angle time lapse sequence of the umbra passing over.
Ice caving in a melt water channel in the Longyearbyen Glacier -some formations look remarkably similar to limestone caves - straws, curtains, flow stone and stalagtites.
160 km eight hour snow mobile tour to the glacier outflow at Tempelfjorden on Spitzbergen.

Hi Joe,

An excellent rework of the corona. Well done.

And I enjoyed reliving our adventures on Spitsbergen - the ice caving (I did the night time trip - not that it mattered), the marathon snow mobile trip to Templefjorden, and the eclipse of course - by reading your blog with accompanying pictures. All excellent.

And the aurora that burst overhead for you near Tromso was magnificent. Difficult to capture the full effect though, because of the expanse of it.

I used a GoPro to capture the eclipse in time lapse, but the mp4 file is very large. Like yours, it shows the umbra clearly moving across the sky.
