Very nice although F9 is more for a visual use. I suppose you could add a reducer come to think of it.

True enough.
It is also true that an Aston Martin DB5 is the archetype anachronism.
Coveted non the less.

Another bargain:

25" f4 full thickness, low expansion, ceramic mirror (with telescope) for US$1k
http://www.astromart.com/classifieds/details.asp?classified_id=884196
Conchoidal chip would likely have zero impact on performance.

Another rare item that may interest someone.

Unitron/Polarex clock drive (actually built like a cross between a clock and a steam engine)

Definitely interested, and the additional effect of purchasing something like that for 4k would be an instantaneous change in marital status...
Pity I'm in the process of building an obs, I think discretionary Astro-spending is limited for a while!
Worth pointing out that this is an escapement system on a weight, like a grandfather clock and not the spring type of clockwork...
Cheers,
Andrew.

The 6" Lunt ED is a nice one. Identical to the APM of the same dimensions. I'd have that over a huge dob anytime.

The Unitron clock drive is ingenious. I wish there was something like that made today. No stuffing around with batteries, motors & electronics.

It's a bit like motorbikes, isn't it? You need N+1, where N is the number you currently have...
I think if one more bit of astro-gear shows up at my place in the next decade there will be a large 'estate' sale shortly afterwards!

36" (cellular blank) Dob for US$12K

You know you want to Barry...

Yeah thought about it for a few seconds but decided too much coin and hassle for an unknown quantity. I think that mirror needs coating too in addition to the currency conversion, crating and shipping and GST expenses. :D

Yep.. Without having a look through it, I would be cautious. The price he suggests that he payed for the finished optic on a cellular blank seems unrealistically cheap.

It's a fickle market  eg:

http://www.atscope.com.au/trader/astrotrader.html

With the debased $A, gift-horse and mouth comes to mind.

But no takers to date, and fair enough, as the local market is tiny.

But if the $A falls some more, no-way I'll sell it.....I'm sure AP will be on the futures-exchange one day :)

Never a truer word was spoken!
And that is the reason I started this thread.... for those who know their gear, there are some absolute fire sale bargains out there.
Brett's RC is one of them.
I hope I convinced him to hold on to it.
