These are (apparently) the best street legal globes that fit a standard H4 headlight:

Surprisingly, Phillips have managed to more than double the light output of a standard Halogen with the same current draw as the standard globe.

If you buy from the powerbulbs website, use the discount coupon :

and you will get them delivered for about 1/2 the price they are being sold at Supercheap Auto, et al.

Hi Clive,

I use something similar in our Crewman, definitely a lot more light being thrown out for sure. Great for spotting Skippy lurking in the roadside bushes.

One thing to be wary of is the temp output of the globe, some can get very hot and start to melt the polycarbonate reflective shell. That can get quite expensive it it happens.

Hi Ric.

The Phillips bulb might actually run cooler than the standard one.
It consumes the same amount of power but a greter percentage of that is converted to light as opposed to heat.
