Hi All

I had to post this!

It is early days at the moment with the ED120 but here is a sample of what is to come. This image was taken with a Canon 350D (Modified) on Tuesday the 20th, it is a total of 10 x 1min shots unguided (EQ6 with Synscan), processed with RegiStar and Photoshop. No dark frame or light frames were used.

Optical speaking the telescope is spot on, factory collimation is spot on and star test produced a nice consistent diffraction pattern on both sides of focus.

Wow, very nice image! I think it would look better resized a bit smaller, with therefore less compression. The artifacts are quite visible at that resolution.

Fantastic result.

Thanks Mike

I would have like to download a larger file but due to file size limit it can not be. Over all I am happy with the performance of the scope and mount. I am planning to use a ED80 and ST-7 for autoguiding in the future.

Well let’s say that the wife (eg the finance committee) has approved the purchase and it is in storage and only comes out on clear nights. I also have clearnce in the future to purchase a lathe and milling machine, handy tools when making ATM parts.

Very nice image Anthony, the 120ED must be an awesome scope.
Just wondering if you used any noise reduction on this image, like Neatimage or Noiseworks?

Amazing you even got an image without using light frames.....I think you mean flat frames....lol

Light frame's are your 1 minute exposures......but we will let you off considering your all excited about the new scope.

Nice start Anthony....looking forward to some more images with this medium sized doublet apo.
