Any tips/advice regarding the NexStar equatorial mount hand controller software? I have ordered the NexSXD replacement motor board for my Vixen SXD (eliminates all issues endemic with the old Starbook, including motor noise), and it uses the NexStar handcontroller (or NexRemote), making the mount "think" it's a CGE Pro.

Which firmware/software is the most stable and best performing? (akin to how Skywatcher Synscan users comment on the various updates and how a reversion to older may be better etc). Any tricks? Anything to avoid?

I have used the NexStar before, and it seems similar enough to the Synscan layout, so shouldn't be a hard learning curve :)

Despite gaining features before Synscan (like the polar alignment routine for example), the Nexstar software is usually more conservatively released. Makes SW look like cowboys

It also depends on which hand controller you get...there are Nexstar and Nexstar+ handsets, which use different firmware.

It is the Nexstar +

You might want to take a look at teamcelestron.com forums and read the release notes before updating.

Until a few months back there were issues with southern hemisphere polar alignment on at least the AVX mounts.
