Nova Sagittarii 2015 No.2 on 20150325

I finally got a chance to shoot Nova Sagittarii 2015 No.2 this morning.

I had hoped to shoot it when it was at its brightest, but the weather just would not cooperate.

We finally got a good night last night, but clouds were forecast to come in early in the morning. It was just a question of when.

Luckily I got about a 10-minute window when there were no clouds and no airplanes in the field.

I did a comparison animation with the same field from 2010 so you can easily see where the nova is located.

It has dropped from its peak at mag 4.3, so get out there and take a look!

Thanks Jerry, a great image.
Attached is a S&T diagram. I turned it to show the view for southern observers before dawn.

The nova seems to be about mag 5.5 now.
I compared it with mag 5.8 CHR 78 using 12x60 binoculars.

Thanks for the kind words about the pic.

Glen, it seems about mag 5.8 for me when I shot it, but it was very low and there were some high clouds around which may have influenced the observation... it's definitely fading that's for sure.

Jerry, I looked at it again this morning with 12x60s and thought it was about the same magnitude as the star HIP 90763 which is mag 5.39.
