Hi guys, this is my second post related to beginner's dslr..after reading some responses from fellow forum-ers, I've been thinking of choosing canon 600d for my first dslr.. I wonder is this a good choice for me considering I'm gonna use it for both day and night time.
Anyway, which one is better: buying second hand at gumtree /ebay or buy the new one? I know the new one cost a bit expensive rather than the second hand's

I use one, and although I have only done a few luna shots (thanks to Tassie weather this past 3 months, I am happy with it with regard to all the other photos I have taken.
The landscape and close-up photos I get are quite good. Plus the fully articulated screen makes it so much easier to use overhead or down on the ground.
This is a sample of photos taken with it, but these have been greatly reduced for posting. Probably pointless as a demo really, but the luna shot is a section of an unprocessed jpg as it came out of the camera.
It's a nice camera, and they are at a pretty good price right now. The 650D adds a touch screen, but I cannot say I have wished I had one since owning the 600.

I use one - check out my flickr page in my signature.
Consider kogan for a reasonably priced grey import. I was recently looking on gumtree and they weren't much cheaper.

Kogan are selling it for $469 + delivery (https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/canon-eos-600d-body/). That's with just one battery as well.
You can see some photos I've taken with this camera here:

It depends what you want out of your DSLR....but as a left-field option, I bought a Fuji X-E1 a little while back as I found a place in Sydney selling the new body only for $399. The sensor is apparently made by Sony and in addition to having a funky pixel arrangement and thus lacking a Bayer filter its quite sensitive and colourful compared to my 1100D. I read somewhere that the cut-off at the red end is less aggressive than the Canons. Also, the noise performance is better at warmer temperatures, like the past few months. The body is noticeably smaller than a Canon and with a pancake lens almost fits in a pocket.
Of course, you sacrifice the Canon-compatible tools such as Backyard EOS, but I've not used that yet anyhow. I've been impressed by the wide field shots I've taken with the Fuji, it's definitely different :D

I've checked your stunning pictures and I'm in awe .
I've checked at kogan n yeah, they got cheapest price for canon 600d (for 450bucks). But i may consider gumtree either if there's any cheaper second hand one.
Anyway, may i know what is grey import?

I use my 600D mainly AP but do other stuff as well. So far so good. I would also suggest you get a LP filter. I got mine from digital camera warehouse.
Btw my friends who know photography they would suggest get a body only then purchase a separate lens not like me using the kit lens...
