Hi. Been lurking for a week or two.

Looks long and heavy to me, but something different. Have not seen one as long as that.

Ex weapons range equipment from Woomera. They used them for tracking, probably rocket launches etc.

WRE was weapons Research Establishment, then called DSTO. They built an Australian satellite WRESAT (http://www.defence.gov.au/news/raafnews/editions/4708/history/story01.htm). The scope was probably for this...although they have mucho tracking optics.
