I never ever thought I'd see Aurora from where I live. :eyepop: I got the heads up at 10pm from Al Sheehan on FB, so I quickly loaded up all my camera gear in my van and headed west. I wanted to be clear of all lights to the south. The aurora was very faint to start with, but from approx 1pm it was visible to the naked eye as a dark pink glow in the south.
:D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Very cool, JJJ! I am glad you got it.
Pity about the clouds developed here, I had to scramble! I might have a lens issue or two to investigate as well:rolleyes: - bad coma on the LHS of frame. I'm hoping it just because I forgot to turn IS off.

Good stuff, JJJ! Let's hope for an aurora like the one in the 1800s that Californian gold miners thought was the sun rising early :eyepop:
Holy mega cow!!
Has anyone seen any signs of activity tonight?

Yes - The Carrington event of 1859, something of that scale would mess with a lot of satellites today.
Must have been a buzz capturing an aurora from Queensland, wow! Well done Jeanette.

Very nice. I have only seen the Aurora once before and that was from north of Sidney back in 2001.
