I have spent a good bit of time touching up some of my old images using a new PC and monitor and some newly acquired Photoshop skills. The poor Irish weather has limited my photo taking.
This is a 60s second exposure at ISO 1600 taken with a Sigma 50mm F1.4 on a 7D. Taken from Wiruna.

This image was used in the BBC Sky at Night program in January this year about the Gaia spacecraft.

magnificent John, this is a very striking focal length for these kind of shots. What f stop was the lens at, is it the Art series of sigma lenses?

That's a fantastic image especially for only 60 second exposure! You must have had some really dark skies. I took a similar picture from Mag ~5 skies and I needed 25 minutes exposure using a 5d Mark II which you can see here https://www.flickr.com/photos/mohammedalibaddah/14638493324/in/set-72157639882085384 . Well done.

That's some pretty impressive chromatic aberration control by that lens.
