I today received my new (to me anyway!) Lunt 60 Solar scope with 50mm DS module.
Managed about a 5 minute look at lunchtime and while the single stack mode is OK, the Double stacking is mind blowingly good!!
VERY HAPPY!!

Hi Malcolm,
I hope that's coming to camp with you:D

Paul,
Double stacking when applied to Ha observing means that two of the etalon filters are "stacked" in the optical path.
The amount of solar surface detail perceived, is a combination of the resolution of the scope (or the seeing conditions) and the narrowness of the bandwidth being used.
Most Ha etalon filters are around 0.7A (0.07nm) bandwidth. To improve on this, when double stacked they can produce a (0.7 x 0.7 =) 0.49A bandwidth. This shows more detail in and around active areas, filaments etc.

Yes it will Nico. I am planning on doing a side by side comparison of my single stacked Coronado SMII 60 against this one. Should be fun!!

In this case there is separate Ha filter that simply screws on to the front of the scope. It is the 50mm filter that you can buy as a separate item to use with a blocking filter to convert an ordinary refractor into a solar scope.
It produces a dimmer image due to the combination of more filtering and smaller aperture, but surface details just come screaming out of the eyepiece.

I can volunteer a mount to put it on during the day (So log as it has a dovetail)
Not going to be there screamingly early on Friday (Before dark is about all I can promise at the moment) but my mount will be sitting there idle all day on Saturday hopefully with a nicely fettled polar alignment to boot.

Thanks Paul
Yes it has a dovetail. It is one of these http://www.bintel.com.au/Accessories/Dovetail-Plates---Adapters/Lunt-Dovetail--br-Bar-300mm/1040/productview.aspx which is a Vixen style.
Would be interesting to pop it on a decent mount and try a bit of imaging!!
