Hi Everyone,

I have two queries and if anyone could help would be most grateful:

1) I received a Coronado PST CaK recently and found it has no manual. I have gone for a search on the internet and have only been able to find the PST manual from Meade's web site. :confused2: Does anyone know if there is a 'CaK' version and where I could download a copy?

2) I have a Meade 5000 ED80 APO refractor I recently purchased. It has a 2" enhanced diagonal, however one of the screws is broken. Checking the scope all else appears fine and viewing is great. Where could I find a replacement screw? Are there any spare parts retailers (anywhere in the world) that deal with Meade gear?

Kind Regards and many thanks in advance,

Matt :)

Hi there,
for any parts try this guy in the US http://astronomy-mall.com/astro.parts.outlet/
can't help you with the manual but I would imagine you use it the same as a Ha PST. Remember the picture is much darker and it's better if you just take photos as the human eye is not very sensitive at the CaK wavelengths.
Hope this help.

Matt,
Coronado/ Meade haven't produced a CaK PST for a while....
They are primarily an imaging solar scope.

Just check that the filter(s) are OK before using....this will require unscrewing the gold tube from the "black box" and inspecting the front filter element...
If I can assist further just let me know.

Hi Huey,
Thanks for the link. There are quite a few parts there.

The fellow that gave me the scope did mention the darker image and better for imaging. are there any filters required for imaging or can I plug say the Nexstar Imager 5 in direct?

Cheers,

Matt

Thanks Ken. I can have a look at this - is there anything in particular to look for on the filter element? Scratches, damage or if it exists at all?

The fellow that gave me the scope said it was all good and mentioned better for imaging than viewing. I would feel more confident about the scope if there were instructions (even if the PST version covers it off).

Regards,
Matt

In some respects I would love to grab a Coronado Solarmax and have seen them from time to time. Would like to know if there will be any around and for how much.
