Managed to finish off the Smoking Man from the X-Files.
(He's there on the bottom right hand side) in glorious Narrowband.
6x 900sec Ha
8x 900 sec O3 binx2
8x 900 sec S2 binx2
This is really a bit of an experimental image - Something to image on clear nights while waiting for my next "real target" to rise around 1.00am. But it came out ok so a bit of fun. I kind of like the blue tendrils weaving their way around him. Went a bit disco on the colours, hope that's ok :cool3:

If you were to just add an Opera House it could a be Ken Done classic
Nice perspective on (part of) an old favourite Andy, good thinking while you waited :D. The Eta Neb region is full of many areas like this that get overlooked as works in their own right, I did one like this (http://www.pbase.com/strongmanmike2002/image/133435504/original)a few years ago myself too..I like the wispiness of yours though because it looks more like gases :)

Top stuff. Sharp and clear. (More disco might be too much.) A very worthwhile project.

An interesting perspective Andy. Your image has quite good 3D areas. I think you could bring more of the reds out though without affecting the star colours. I have found that the reds with blue and greens can give a looking through the mist feel to an image. All said though, this is a nice image.
Great Image, Andy. Top job.

Cheers Greg, something different hey :)
Thanks Mike, that's a mighty cool shot of yours as well - Whatever happened to Ken Done anyway? Cheers
Thanks Mike - it was a fun little project - not to be taken too seriously!

Lovely detail and pretty cool colours!
How did you find the 8300 when binned? I tend to see horizontal blooms when doing 2x2 binning with mine. I guess the signal is much weaker for OIII and SII so probably less of an issue.

Hi Chris, Thanks for your positive feedback.
I've only binned the weak O3 & S2 which I think helps me a lot - but others may be of the view that software binning is better. Can't say I've noticed the blooming you mentioned.
Thanks Fred, appreciate your positive comments! Yeah, the stars werehave shrunk back in Startools - works pretty well, and makes them less distracting imo ;)
