Saturn and Jupiter

waay better seeing than usual - still nothing like full resolution or contrast on Jupiter, but at least you can see some of the bigger features - a vast improvement over what has been available for the last couple of months. Got a fairly good burst of about 10 minutes on Saturn and a variable couple of hours on Jupiter. Io made an appearance at the end of the Jupiter session, but the seeing fell in a hole near the end of that red channel run, so only a mono of Io.

Good to be back imaging after an unwanted hiatus. Also, had put the bigger scope in the shed in disgust about a year ago, but it was good to clean it up and image with it again :).

thanks Paul. there's plenty of photons to go round, but the Jupiter ones are a bit mixed up by the atmosphere :lol:

Hi Trevor. couldn't keep away. However, seeing tonight is back to normal wobbly rubbish and I remember why I packed up the scope over a year ago :lol:

thanks Krishan. I guess it was, although I had some nagging doubts about that at 3.45 this morning - when sensible people were sleeping.

Thanks Domenic. The scope is a lot of fun, but nothing special - a 12 inch f5 GSO dob OTA on an EQ6 and with a QHY5L2 camera looking through a 3x Barlow. It has lots of idiosyncrasies, but works OK when everything is lined up properly.
