First time to try a proper nightscape with my new Sony A5100. I blows all my other cameras out of the water!
I am using my new Samyang 12mm F2 lens which is beautifully sharp wide open. I am really happy with it.
This shot is just from out the front paddock near my observatory which you can see on the right with the red light.
It is a 5 image pano, 30 seconds each at ISO3200.

thanks for looking,

Superb pano, Jo. Expertly stictched. Jealous of your skies too. I get a lot of airglow too, but the orange type. :)

Thanks Justin, I agree about the camera!
Thanks Graham, yeah I do have a pretty good sky ;)
Thanks!
I can't imagine that, it must be horrible!
Glad you liked the stitching, I found a new projection in Hugin that worked really well.
Yes it is a great lens, I would say it is by far the best nightscape lens for compact gear.
Thanks Col! Glad you liked it.

Very tidy. Did you use a camera tracker? or just a normal tripod?

Thank you Peter, I used just a normal tripod for this shot.

Thanks Doug and Greg!
With the lens I have noticed a bit of coma on the left side of the images that I think is peculiar to my lens, It hasn't really bothered me that much but I probably will get it replaced with another one and see if it is better.
Cheers
Jo
Amazing to say the least. No tracking, great lens, spectacular image.

excellent image i'm really impressed. i do have one question however i am guessing the photo was taken late in the evening or early morning perhaps as when i walk outside just now 9pm the milky way is high in the sky like right over head and i have to confess it perplexes me
