Was out last night with the 5DH and 24 to 105 F4L and took some shots at 24mm without any filters as they won't work much below 50mm FL. The larger angles change the transmission spectral position. Quite surprised how good this lens is for a zoom. I really only got it as good walkaround lens for terrestial.

Details
Canon 5DH, 24 to 105 F4L at 24mm at F4, 12 X 60sec ISO 1600, flat correction with ImagesPlus stacked with Registar adjusted with PS. The skyglow is due to light pollution. Center of picture is about at zenith. The field of view is 85x57 degrees.

This would be much better at a dark sky site.

:thumbsup:Very nice image Bert, i have the 28-105mm that gives good results, and at a good price too.

A dark site would bring out the lenses true ability.

Shame about all the light pollution.

Lovely widefield Bert. Shame about the glow. Have you tried a mask subtraction to remove some of it?

Bit of Coma or lens flare on the edges, but hey it has wow written all over it!

You have done very well as I feel can sense the glow that would have been present. You better make the dark site trip in the next couple of weeks or there abouts cause I doubt if it will be around much longer. Our galactic centre above us we are very lucky.

Howdy. Bert hope u dont mind I fiddled with Gradient xterminator in Photshop and adjusted Levels. The original image has lots of detail, Gradient Xterminator removes the otherwise unavoidable uneven gradient you get with wide angle lenses. What do you think?

Excellent image, Bert! Do you ever get the chance to head "out dark"?

Would love to see some of your stuff from ideal locations.
