Cutting down filters

I remember someone posting about a company that can cut down your LRGB filters. I have some 49.7mm filters I want to cut down to 36mm.

Anyone know of a company that can do that?

I had a similar, but different problem.
I wanted to cut a prism in half......
I found the solution was to work with a local stained glass guy. They have all the diamond wire saws etc. good for precision work.
Worth checking around.

Good tip. I do remember someone posting a company though that could cut down filters. Perhaps its a company that uses laser cutting or water jet cutting.

I might call a few glass companies.

Last year I was looking at some Schott filters that only were available as squares. I called an optometrist and was referred along to another optometrist that was able to do cutting. I never did follow this up (as Gerd Newman supplied the filters mounted) but I was told that his ability to do the cut really depended on the nature of the substrate.

I have lodged a request for info with a couple of cutting companies, one is laser and one is water jet to see what they can do.

If no go I'll check out some opticians.

I still recommend you contact your friendly stain glass guy. They are usually very helpful and won't charge an arm and a leg.....They cut thin glass all the time...
