M76 and LDN1622

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I posted anything here, so I think it's time to put up my summer imaging project for public scrutiny.

It is a 6.5 hours capture with my 132/330 Companar and QHY8 camera.
Processed with DSS, StarTools and Gimp.

Let me know if I you think I should change anything.

Hi Stefan,

That's a beautifully composed image. Love seeing M78 nicely balanced with LDN1622 on the other side of B's loop. Maybe the colours are a tad over saturated? Regardless it has great impact and detail, very well done sir :)

Now that is an interesting composition. Stefan could you post a link to a larger resolution. From I can see I like the colour, maybe just ease back the saturation just a little but potentially a superb image.

Yes love it Stefan, I did a similar region recently but much prefer yours, well you spent long enough on it to get such a nice result

Thanks Stefan. That helps to take a good look around, bigger again would be great. Its really interesting to see the margins between the emission of Barnards loop and the colder dust of M78. The LDN object to the lower right is something on my list to image next season.

Hi Stefan,
It's a beautiful picture.
I prefer the version with less saturation too.
I would have cheated & made a mask of the diagonal red area
& just reduced that only in colour saturation.

Anyway - well done.

Nice work Stefan, it's a very photogenic field....this composition seems popular lately too, did this require rotating the camera to get the composition?

Mike,

I had to rotate the camera about 15 degrees from the NS or EW orientation. You can just make out the diffraction spikes that match the NS and EW directions.
