View Full Version here: : Pimping a Battery Box

I wanted a battery box I could put in the back of the 4x4 and recharge from the vehicle as I drive. I already have the vehicle wired to a 50 Amp Anderson plug at the towbar to charge batteries in the caravan so that part was easy. Then I decided I would also want to run some LED lights and a few other bits and bobs, plus, if needed, run a small inverter.

So here it is:
1. A heavy outlet that will connect to the inverter plus to the vehicle for charging. Then a fused cigarette lighter outlet and 4 individually fused 30 Amp Anderson plug outlets to run other stuff - and an on/off switch to isolate those 4 if wanted.

Here's some photos. It was not difficult and wasted a wet weekend.

Problem is, it's still raining, so what's next?

Nice setup you got there. Id throw in a DC power meter like this (http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=MS6170) or a basic voltmeter.

I made a simple battery box recently, a couple of others shared their ones too:

Hmmm. Thanks. I hadn't spotted that previous thread but do like the look of that votlmeter/USB etc panel. I've ordered one and will bang it in there to round out the kit. Having 2 x USB charging points will be very useful.
