View Full Version here: : Jupiter 1st Light ASI174
Back home just in time to test the ASI174 before the weather turns bad for us in C.Qld. The seeing last night was mostly poor with just a few moments slightly better so not a really fair test. Using an 18mm Ortho for eyepiece projection gave a mag of 3x which is almost identical to the pixel size using the ASI120mm-S + a TV 2x. The final images seem very good especially the lack of vertical banding easily seen in the CH4 capture.

Nice work Phil. Very interesting camera specs that have worked well for you.

Good work - have been keeping an eye on this camera.
Do you find that is lower noise than the ASI120mm?
How is your FPS vs the ASI120mm? Did you have a USB2 version with the ASI120mm?
Thanks Steve, I'm hoping this camera will last longer than the previous ASIs'.
Yes John it has considerable less noise than the ASI120mm-S and much less than the USB2 ASI120mm both of which I own. The vertical banding on both cameras was difficult to deal with. fps appears to be a little less than the ASI120mm-S although until I get good seeing it's hard to be accurate. So far I'm very impressed but will need a few more hours use before I'm totally convinced. The demands on the USB3 bus are high so quality hardware is essential.
I'll be keeping the ASI120mm USB2 as a guide camera for my new scope and the ASI120mm-S does very well on my Lunt 80mm SS.
Cheers, Phil
