Really desperate to use that new scope so I managed to image last night above Crux in a hole in the clouds that stayed relatively clear until midnight. I wanted to do the HH in Orion but that part of the sky stayed clouded all the time. So 14x 5min. This is hydrogen alpha with a QHY9/FSQ at prime focus. Little noisy in the dark bits but still pretty happy with the results. Still having teething issues with the mechanical arrangement for focusing so I'm convinced it's not 100%. Still bloody sharp though.
Big one is a 4MB (1:1) JPEG here (http://www.astropic.net/astro/ngc3372_FSQ_fff.jpg)
Enjoy the view.

Excellent result Marc. Taking the aperture, conditions, and time pressure into account, a magnificent result. I especially like the wispy stuff toward 4 o'clock.

Thanks Mike. I'll probably mosaic that way, towards the cluster.
Thanks Andy. yes, love that scope. Will do color, for sure, some time in march, if it's clear.
Thanks a lot, all.

Thanks mate. Possibly.
Thanks Steve. M8 is too low for me still. :)
Thanks Allan. FWHM was around 1.7 - 1.8 that night, so pretty still.

How good is that gunna be in the FSQ???!!!
Mike
Beautiful grayscale work. Shows the trend toward smaller pixels and short FL scopes like the FSQ can make for highly detailed images. Well done.

Very nice detail and buttery smooth processing Marc. I was wondering what the KAF8300 + FSQ combination's view would look like on this object. I did this some time ago with the TSA and it was a slightly narrower field of view. I would really like to see you do a full NB on this object.

Thanks a lot guys.
Thanks Ross. Yeah I think it can be a little better. Especially keeping it over a period of time. I have everything setup when the skies clear again. Hopefully, this time, I'll have it working ok.
Thanks Paul. Yeah it's a nice wide fov. Even bigger with the QHY8. I'd love to do tri-color on this but it's going to take a while. Ha is the only thing I can do efficiently from home, along with IR and when I go away I want to do color.
