Anyone know a reliable supplier to purchase a 1mW green laser pointer for astronomical use. I want to attach it to my Dob to aid observations and also use it for pointing out objects to others.
Cheers

I just got mine off eBay, $15 with battery charger but no battery, postage was $5 from Hong Kong. Its pretty impressive for the money, I bought a red laser pointer in about 1997 from singapore and paid about $80 back then haha! One good feature which looks like a gimmick at first is a key switch on the back. Handy if you've got small kids or anything, if they somehow manage to get their hands on it at least they can't turn it on and blind the cat without having the key.

I bought three from this chap.

I received them in 9 days and they gave good beams.

I bought one from matt & trish ( as below) $30 delivered just didn't have enough trust in the eBay units. I know that some are being confiscated by customs as not ADR compliant expecting delivery in a few days.:eyepop:

Would it really matter if Customs seized a $4.99 1mW laser?
They'd have to explain why they did it, and supply evidence if you hounded them as whether or not they had exceeded their authority - especially as there are local Ebay suppliers selling the same thing for 8 or 9 dollars.

I bought mine off ebay - no problems at all. Fast delivery and only about $6.

Yep I got a green 1mw "lazzerrrr beam" off eBay for $4.95 from an Australian vendor. It arrived today and it's excellent. I think it would be handy to attach one to the scope somehow to aid in freehand slewing and doing alignments.
