Jeez... I was just about to go out and set up for the evening and decided against it. Don't know where you all are ATM, but in Southern Sydney the moon is so bright it's incredible! I guess I never noticed (nor cared) before, but now I have a scope I can see why people wait for it to wane!

Dang! I really wanted to try out the new Telrad too :(

Got up to go o the little house at 04:55 and noticed it just above the hills got the bino's out for a quick look :eyepop: , then back to bed as it was cool.
I origanaly was going to stay up for the Uranus ocultation and the eclipse, but it was blowing a gale so didn't bother, it was lovely and still when I got up, but by then it was to late:(

At the last full moon I had a look through the LX200R and could only view for about a minute before the eyes began to get sore from the brightness.
Full moons definitely play havoc with the faint fuzzies.

cheers

The night before last was about as perfect as it gets here in the states for me. While the Moon was about 30 degrees up, it was a gorgeous muted orange - almost full of course but very easy on the eyes. I don't think I've ever picked out so much detail or spent as long looking at it with my binocs (12x) before. No washout effect from brightness and it seemed like you could stare at it for hours! :)
