As I'm convalescing from yet another back operation (I know, boo-hoo-poor-you), I have way too much time on my hands.
Seeking the blissful release of prime-time telly (), I came upon a show called "Mock the Week" that's shown on ABC 2 Thursdays after QI(a perennial favourite) & "The Checkout - Snack sized"
Its been going for yonks and you can see it on Youtube if so inclined.
But now what the Beeb have done is edited the episodes for a "best-of" compilation.
Hosted by Darra O'Brien it is extremely funny. So much so that I almost reinjured myself laughing at last night's episode.
The humour is largely off-colour (one contestant claimed she thought Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity meant: 'Cousins, no. Second cousins, OK")
and the language would make a navvy blush.
In an era of saccharine soaps and PC everything else, its a bit of a cool breeze to see that there are some clever and erudite people that just don't give a carp.
Not for the kids, but well worth your time.
