I recently invested in an Amscope 40x - 2500x binocular compound microscope.
I've adapted my telescope eyepiece projection adapter so I can take photos through it with my DSLR.
I slot the 10x eyepiece into the adapter, and depending on the size of the critter/object, I shoot it through the 4x, 10x or 40x objective. There is a fair amount of CA in the 40x and the depth of field is quite shallow.
The images of the bugs in amber are created using the Focal Stacking method. The bugs are approx 50 million years old.

Our local fresh water creek provides a wonderful variety of bugs, slugs and diatoms to image. :)
I'm never ever drinking unfiltered creek water again.
The first critter in this set, my eldest son named the Testebug for some reason.

Very cool, JJJ! Those images turned out really well.

I always wanted to see an amoeba when I was a kid but never managed to find one. I think my mother probably got tired of all the bottles of stagnant water I accumulated :)

Cheers,
Rick.

Really interesting photos, thanks for posting them, and it looks like the sort of pass-time that could happily consume hours.

That one of your mother is a bit blurred.....lol
Excellent detail. I had no idea you could do that.
